Today started out late again because we both slept in but we didn’t sleep in as late as yesterday! We were up and out by 10 am and walking around the Rockefeller Center area near our hotel. We took a few pictures and made a plan for what we wanted to do first today. We are going to start by viewing the 9/11 memorial! I was really looking forward to seeing what the area looked like now and it would be an emotional viewing for us. A few things we saw first are pictured below.

Once at the 9/11 Memorial we walked around… took in the area and the feeling of our counties losses. I at one point was so moved I was crying. It is a difficult place to visit, experience, and think about.

I decided we needed to lighten our mood so I surprised Leo with a trip to the Ghostbusters Firehouse! It was a really cool thing to see! I jumped out of the Uber and took a few pictures and then we headed over to Mulberry Street in the heart of Little Italy. If there was ever a time I felt completely at home in any area of this country it was once we started walking this area!

We did some shopping and some eating. Da Nico Ristorante was full of people who appeared to really be enjoying the food so we decided to stop and eat here. We ordered bruschetta, sausage pizza, and zeppoli. The food was amazing! We enjoyed it a lot and after we were finished we started back on our walking journey down Mulberry Street.

Once our Uber arrived we decided to go see the Intrepid Museum. This like every other place that needed admission was covered with our New York City Pass that we had purchased. The Intrepid Museum was awesome and full of so many cool planes, helicopters, and of course the ship itself to explore. They allowed you to walk in almost every area of the ship and had some very interesting information about how similar ships were commanded, how the different people and areas functioned together and independently. It was a treat to explore. We were both pretty exhausted and starting to struggle with communication so it was only natural that in a polite and respectful way we kind of dumped, emotionally, on each other. Leo and I are so similar in many ways and both tend to become emotionally constipated and are learning how to verbalize more frequently instead of letting it bottle up.

We agreed after a long discussion to lighten our activities for the rest of the evening. We headed over to The Museum of Sex… WOOOOO
This was a really interesting museum to visit. It had several floors of different types of exhibits as they relate to sex and sexuality. This museum included original reels of 1st pornographic shows, photographs of sexuality related things, and videos that almost surrounded us with the history of pornography and sexuality. Then you explore 4 floors down the other side of the building and it looks like a sex version of Dave and Busters. Lots of fun things to do including a room made of comfy poofy boobs to jump on. It was a hoot to explore. Once you are done with the museum you find yourself in a store full of different sex related goodies.

We didn’t want to miss the Empire State Building so after lots of sex at the Museum we started our journey to see the Empire State Building. This was also included in our pass so we got in relatively fast. Security wasn’t so bad and although it took us about 45 minutes to get to the top it they had some interesting things to look at along the way.
